FAQ

What equipment is needed for on-ice sessions?

Full hockey equipment is required for ALL on-ice activity.

What is the difference between skating sessions and skills sessions?

Skating sessions provide the knowledge on how body awareness coupled with the technical and tactical aspects of skating can improve balance, speed and agility. These sessions are held without hockey stick and puck during public skating at the Pettit National Ice Center, Eble Park Ice Arena and the Naga-Waukee Park Ice Arena.

Skills sessions provide not only the knowledge of body awareness and the technical and tactical aspects of skating, but also the understanding of how to use this knowledge in the context of a hockey game. By reinforcing this knowledge through game-situational drills with a stick and puck, it is ensured that skating, puckhandling, passing, shooting and checking effectively synergize to make you a more dynamic, more complete hockey player.

What additional fees are associated with lessons?

As ice is utilized at several area rinks, and each rink has its own fees, please locate the appropriate rink and type of session below for that information.

*Eble (Skating): For skating sessions during public skating at Eble Park Ice Arena, a $5.00 (18 & Under) and/or $6.50 (Adults) fee must be paid BEFORE each lesson at the lobby ticket window. Please ask rink staff for locker room assignments.

*Eble (Skills): For skills sessions during private lesson ice times at Eble Park Ice Arena, a $10 rink fee per skater must be paid to Brian Kreilkamp at the time of the lesson. This fee is then paid to Eble Park Ice Arena. Please ask rink staff for locker room assignments.

*Pettit (Skating): For skating sessions during public skating at the Pettit National Ice Center, a $5.50 (12 & Under), $6.50 (12- 18) and/or $7.00 (Adults) fee must be paid BEFORE each lesson at the lobby ticket window. Locker rooms will not be available.

*Pettit (Skills): For skills sessions at the Pettit National Ice Center, all skaters MUST sign in and pay a $13 fee per skater at the lobby ticket window. During sign-in, please ask rink staff for locker room assignments.

*Ponds (Skills): For skills sessions during private lesson ice times at The Ponds of Brookfield, a $10 fee per skater must be paid to Brian Kreilkamp at the time of each lesson. This fee is then paid to The Ponds of Brookfield. Please ask rink staff for locker room assignments.

Can a session be pro-rated if I want to cut a lesson short?

If only a portion of a scheduled session is skated, that session will not be pro-rated. For example, if you book an hour session, and only choose to skate a portion of that session, you will still be responsible for paying for that originally scheduled hour session. Please be respectful of my time and the fact that another skater could benefit from that session time.

What if a lesson is missed or canceled?

24-hour notice is required for any session cancellation, which gives me adequate time to reschedule that session. If a session is cancelled or missed without notice, it will be charged at the appropriate rate. NO EXCEPTIONS. Again, please be respectful of my time and the fact that another skater could have benefited from that session time.

What are my payment options?

Payment is required at the time of each session. Both cash and check are accepted.
